ECW Reception
ECW News
St. Paul's new chapter of Episcopal Church Women met in a special session Sunday afternoon, September 25th for a reception and information session. Special guest speaker was Lucia Peel, ECW Diocesan President. Also attending with women of St. Paul's was Barbara Pederson, Secretary of ECW Executive Board. Lucia's presentation included some history of ECW, research on women's organizations, and sharing of activities in various chapters within the Diocese.
Episcopal Church Women began serving women and girls in the Church in the mid 1800s. The organization continues throughout the Church today promoting educational, spiritual, and social programs and supporting women to be all that Christ calls them to be.
Following Lucia's presentation, discussion flourished on next steps, ways ECW could help support St. Paul's, and activities that could support and nurture women in the church and community. Ashley Cannan won a copy of a cookbook by Sheri Castle; Mary Kathryn Thornton won the beautiful table centerpiece crafted by Barbara Moye. Special thanks were extended to Mary Kathryn Thornton, Patricia Shegas, and Judy Warren for delicious treats that added to the light refreshments.
Members of the planning committee were Bobbie Bonnet, Jackie Hutcherson, Lou McNamee, Vivian Mott, and Anne Tilley. Plans continue for an online newsletter and future meetings. For more information, feel free to contact any of the planning committee or leave a message with the church office.
