ECW Organizes fresh-baked cookies for Diocesan Convention
The big news for ECW in the past few weeks has to be our very positive gift of cookies in the welcome bags of registrants and guests of the 140th Diocesan Convention at the Greenville Convention Center! With little planning time and LOTS of help (you all know who you are!), one of our leaders commented "we welcomed nearly 250 people with cookies and smiles!"
We partnered with St Timothy's ECW who provided more than 14 dozen fresh baked assorted cookies! Then, more than a dozen women and men from St Paul's baked and contributed nearly 400 more fresh baked yummy treats - Yes! More than 30 dozen! All of these nearly 500 cookies were bagged generally two per baggie and shared with guests, clergy, delegates, staff, and friends as they entered the front of the center or networked between sessions.
Jackie Hutcherson led our group of volunteers who staffed our 'cookie' table. Jackie was joined at times during the two days of the convention by several St. Paul's women.
Besides bringing smiles, conversation, and lots of thank-you as we shared cookies, almost everyone who came by generously contributed to our collection for Episcopal Relief and Development. At the conclusion of the convention, we were able to send $300 to the ERD fund! Additionally, the (very) few cookies remaining were shared on Monday morning with Greenville's JOY Soup Kitchen.
So, ECW was well represented and received at the Diocesan Convention! We're so appreciative to all those of you who baked cookies and those who helped staff our cookie hospitality table - too many to mention, for we would regrettably leave someone unnamed! THANK YOU ALL for contributing to the success of ECW's winter project!
