Loosely Bound – January 2025

January 15 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join us for Loosely Bound’s January gathering on Wednesday, January 15th at 10:00am in Friendly Hall/Library. Please join us as we discuss the non-fiction pieces we’ve been reading – it should all be very interesting!

Some sugestions:

The books in the list below all come from the PBS Recommended Book List for 2024. I haven’t read the books but was able to read the samples on Amazon. Links are inserted. I think any of the books would be a good match for the Loosely Bound book group. I looked for nonfiction, but Shell Games seemed so fascinating I decided to include it.

Shell Games by Bonnie Kistler.  This is the only fiction but based on real events in the Tylenol murders. The killer was never caught.
The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan, who is the author for The Joy Luck Club. This is a collection of essays or memoir writings with each of her beautiful original sketches. She is an artist too.
A Fatal Inheritance: How a Family Misfortune Revealed a Deadly Medical MysteryBy Lawrence Ingrassia.  Nearly everyone has exposure to cancer, either personally or a family member. This book is a touching memoir but also educates the reader on ground-breaking cancer research.
The Friday Afternoon Club: A Family Memoir by Griffin Dunne. This is such a good, good story. It is an example of memoir in which we see ee ourselves, or see someone we know, and touches the heart
