With thanks to God for the ministry of the Rev’d K. Drew Baker, MD

In December, Fr. Drew met with me with a look of restrained excitement mixed with apology that I have come to dread among beloved colleagues. “Ohhh, I don’t want to hear this, do I?” I asked with a sigh. Turns out that for the past three-plus years, in addition to being a priest, Drew has had a side gig as highly competent pediatrician and professor at the Brody School of Medicine. Who knew? Well, apparently the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota found out, and they have offered him what amounts to a dream job for a pediatrician/priest whose life is dedicated to improving outcomes for sick children and training others to do so. So, after three tremendous years of ministry with our parish and medical community here in Greenville, Drew is heading out for the balmy “land of 10,000 lakes” for the next leg of the journey on which God has him. I am so very grateful for his companionship with us on this leg of that journey, and, despite a certain sadness at the departure of a colleague, I could not be more excited for this next call for my friend. I will remain ever grateful for not only Drew’s diligence among us in both of his vocations, but also the joy and hospitality he exudes in his work. I hope you will join me in the coming month in thanking him for his ministry with us, and then in sending him off with our thanks and prayers at a reception following the 10:30 service on Sunday February 19.

Peace,
-Andrew
