Gwyn Hilburn
My name is Gwyn Hilburn. I am a retired state district court judge, having served over 20 years on the bench in Pitt County. My husband, Jim Holte, and I are the parents of one child, Molly, who is married and living in Greensboro where she and her husband practice law.
Jim and I moved to Greenville from New Orleans 40 years ago. While in New Orleans I served as Christian Education Coordinator at Christ Church Cathedral for several years and formed a “pick up” choir that sang at the family service. When we came to Greenville we became active members of St. Timothy’s, where among other things I served a term on the Vestry and was a member of the search committee when Father Price left. Several years ago, we began attending St. Paul’s, and have come to love the people of St. Paul’s. If you do not recognize my picture, you may have seen me in my overalls weeding and watering at the church over the years.
I am humbled to be nominated to serve on the Vestry. I hope that my experience in the church, as well as on the bench and in the wider Greenville community make me a viable candidate for the Vestry.
Ike Johnston
My wife Mary Helen and I have been members of St. Paul’s for nearly 10 years. We have two children Andrew (6) and Grace (4). Mary Helen and I moved to Greenville in 2012 after meeting during law school. I was born and raised in the Methodist Church in North Wilkesboro, NC but was married in Mary Helen’s childhood Episcopal Church in Martinsville, VA and have since attended St. Paul’s.
I am a lawyer practicing with an appointed federal bankruptcy trustee serving in the Greenville, New Bern, and Wilmington regions. I find very rewarding the call to public service in the legal profession, and the opportunity to assist those struggling with financial difficulties during the process of rehabilitating their financial lives.
I look forward to serving St. Paul’s on the Vestry, representing families of school aged children, and leading responsible stewardship.
Matt Howard
Hello! My name is Matt Howard and I am very excited to be considered for the Vestry at St. Paul’s. This parish has been an important part of my life for many years! My wife, Katie, and I have been attending St. Paul’s since 2014 and were married here in July of 2015. Our daughter, Ellis, was born in October of 2018 and was baptized at St. Paul’s in November of 2019.
I am originally from Greene County and attended ECU for both my Bachelor’s (Music Ed, 2010) and my Master’s (Music Performance, 2012). I am now in my tenth year of teaching band at J.H. Rose H.S. and I am so proud to be a part of the Rampant family and the greater Greenville community. I also served in the North Carolina National Guard as a member of the 440th Army Band from 2011 to 2017. I look forward to continuing to serve our community in the classroom and for the opportunity to serve as a part of our Vestry. Thank you for your time and consideration!
Patricia Shegas Roseman
My name is Patricia Shegas Roseman. I was born in New Jersey. I have two children and three grandkids (soon to be four). I moved to Greenville in 2013 to be closer to my son and his children. Shortly after moving here, I opened my own bakery business, Patty Cakes. I have always loved baking and being an independent business owner.
I joined St. Paul’s in 2015. The clergy were so welcoming and the liturgy really resonated with me. Since joining this church, I have found many ways to volunteer.
I have always felt a call to serve the community and St. Paul’s has given me so many opportunities to fulfill that need. I have been a desk volunteer, Pumpkin Patch assistant, Wednesday Night Supper cook and a Stone Soup server. I currently cook and serve dinner at the community shelter and work frequently with our food pantry.
In my free time, I serve on the board of the Eastern Carolina Village and Farm Museum (Village of Yesteryear) and the Leroy James Farmer’s Market. I also enjoy spending time with my family.
