Refugee Resettlement Information Meeting
Monday, August 26, 2024, 12:30 PM
St. Paul’s Refugee Resettlement Ministry is preparing to welcome a family seeking refuge in Greenville later in September. Although we won’t know who they are or where they’re coming from until closer to arrival, there is much to do to prepare a home for them. St. Paul’s will provide furnishings for their apartment including complete kitchen, dining, living room and bedrooms and provide a hot meal on the day of arrival. Then we will help them learn how to shop for groceries, learn English, navigate in Greenville, find health care, enroll children in school and other essential skills needed to thrive in our community. Our diocesan partners at Interfaith Refugee Ministry are the sponsoring agency and will manage apartment rental, job search, and benefit enrollment among other duties.
We will need your help and prayers as St. Paul’s undertakes this new ministry. If you have gently used furniture and other household items (e.g. tables, sofas, lamps, chairs, beds, linens, cookware, etc) that you no longer need, please consider saving them for our refugee family. We’re working on details for collection of these items now. If you’d like to learn more, please join us at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, at Bake My Day located at 2803 Evans St (12:30 p.m. if you want to eat) or contact Ann Whichard, Suzanne Pecheles or Caroline Doherty.
