Sunday, Jan. 1 No EYC – Happy New Year’s
Sunday, Jan. 8 Calvin Mercer: “Why Jesus Didn’t Have Ulcers or Humor in the Bible”
Sunday, Jan. 15 Visit Little Willie’s Center and learn about their ministry with children. We will begin loading the
church van at 5:25, leaving promptly at 5:30. We will return approximately 6:45 for dinner. (This
is Martin Luther King holiday weekend.)
Sunday, Jan. 22 Mike Hamer: “Improvising Music for Prayers – no wrong way to do it! Just join in!”
**Sat. Jan. 28 “Celebrating Epiphany - Star Gazing via Telescopes” – We will join with ECM students to
go to Bray Hollow in Ayden (also known as A Time for Science Nature and Science
Learning Center) where John and Nancy Bray will lead us in viewing the stars and
constellations through their telscopes. Meet promptly at St. Paul's lower parking lot
at 6:00 and parents pick up at 8:45. Refreshments will be provided. If inclement weather,
program will be indoors. No cost.
Sunday, Jan. 29 Ann Harrison: “Hearing God’s Voice through the Hungry” This program will include a tour
of the food pantry and a time for the youth to pack food bags for the needy. Each youth is
encouraged to bring up to five cans of food to donate. Each donated can earns one raffle
ticket.
Sunday, Feb. 5 Sarah Klitzkie, Louise Hudak, and Youth: “Ulster Project and Outreach Ministry at St. Pauls,
in our Diocese, and Beyond” This program will include a time for youth who went to the Feb. 3-4
Convention youth event to share what they learned about outreach ministries.
Sunday, Feb. 12 Father Bob Hudak: “Hearing God’s Voice” This program will include Holy Communion.
Sunday, Feb. 19 Dr. Saeed Dar: “Visiting our local Mosque and learning about the Islam faith” We will begin
loading the church van at 5:25, leaving promptly at 5:30. We will return approx. 6:45 for dinner.
**Tues. Feb. 21 Youth help with Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, 5:00 – 7:00.
Sunday, Feb. 26 Tony Breur- “Faith Journey and Trust”
Sunday, March 4 Carol Williams: “Dreams and God’s Voice”
**Sat. March 10 “Earth, Air, and Fire – Up Close” We will join John and Nancy Bray at Bray Hollow in Ayden
where they will lead us in a time of experiencing and reverencing creation through experiential
activities with earth, air, and fire, followed by a closing prayer and meditation about creation. In
case of inclement weather, we will have the program indoors. We will leave St. Paul’s lower
church parking lot promptly at 1:30 and parents pick up at 5:00. No cost.
Sunday, March 11 Rabbi Alyssa Stanton: “Our Jewish Heritage” This program will include time of learning some
Jewish songs.
Sunday, March 18 Rev. Jill Beimdiek: “ The Last Days” Our focus will be Jesus’ last days (procession into
Jerusalem, His last meal with His disciples, His trial and crucifixion) and our last days before
the joyous celebration of Easter. Program includes Holy Communion.
Sunday, March 25 Derek Maher: “Finding our Quiet Within and more stories from Tong-Len”
Sunday, April 1 Youth host Easter party for our University Towers neighbors.
Sunday, April 8 No EYC – Happy Easter!
Sunday, April 15 Sandra Swan (Representative for Episcopal Relief Development): “What in the World are
Episcopalians Doing?”
**Sat. April 21 “Experiencing our Wonderful Creation through Nature Walks and Frog Expeditions!” To help
celebrate Earth Day weekend, EYC and ECM will have some afternoon fun joining others at
Bray Hollow to experience the beauty and wonders of God’s creation. Exact time to be later
announced.
Sunday, April 22 Heather Deck (River Keeper with the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation): “We Are Our River
(Earth Day Keeper” Program will include time of walking the greenway and learning some of the history
and concerns of the Tar River, plant/tree names, and talking about our environmental
responsibilities in being good stewards of the earth.
Sunday, April 29 Ann Harrison: “Creativity and Church Mission”
Sunday, May 6 Susan Vickery-Mercer: “Treasures and our Spiritual Journey” Each youth is asked to bring an
object they have held onto through the years and consider a “treasure.” Each youth will have an
opportunity to share a story about their “treasure.” Closing prayer will be one of gratefulness
and blessing for all those “treasures” that represent our connectedness to one another,
life, and God.
Sunday, May 13 TBA
**Sat. May 19 Cookout and fun at Jack, David, and Jim Kittrell's alpaca farm! We will leave church lower
parking lot at 5:00 and return at 9:00. Rising 6th graders are invited.
Sunday, May 20 Susan Vickery-Mercer: “Year Celebration and Review of What We Have Learned”
Sunday, May 27 No EYC – Happy Memorial Day
Sunday, June 3 End of school year party with St. Timothy’s church, 5-7:30. Water balloon fights and slip-n-slide
and volleyball! Bring dry clothes and a towel! Party held at St. Timothy’s on Firetower Rd.

**Saturday, Gathering for Youth and Parents, 5-7:30, Parish Hall, for opening of the upcoming youth year.
September 10 Includes cookout dinner, games, and community building!
Sunday, Sept. 11 Youth will join the 5:00 Interfaith 9/11 Commemorative Service at St. Paul’s with pizza
and volleyball party afterwards (for all youth attending the service) at Canterbury House
Sunday, Sept. 18 No EYC
**Sunday, Sept 25 Community Gathering at the Mercer Home -- After working at the Pumpkin Patch, youth will
gather at the Mercer home, 5-7:30, for dinner and “Building A Community with Respect and
Love” program by Calvin Mercer.
Sunday, Oct. 2 Father Bob Hudak: “St. Francis of Assisi” (This program will include Holy Communion).
**Saturday, Oct. 8 Volunteer at local Humane Society helping to walk dogs, pet animals, and clean up. This is an
experiential follow-up to last week’s Blessing of Animals and Father Bob’s program on St.
Francis. Meet promptly at church lower parking lot at 1:00 and parents pick up same place at 4:30.
Sunday, Oct. 9 Youth host lawn and music party for University Towers neighbors. Musicians Mike Hamer and
Bob Clyde will play music and invite Towers’ residents and/or youth to bring an instrument and
join in the music celebration.

**Saturday, Oct.29 Bonfire and Halloween Hayride at Bray’s Farm where we will hear stories about the
night time activities of beavers, bats, owls, and spiders! Meet at church lower parking
lot promptly at 5:15. Parents pick up at 9:00.
**Sunday, Oct. 30 Join with St. Timothy’s EYC for Halloween Party, 5-8pm, at St. Timothy's on Firetower Road
**Saturday, Nov. 5 Mike Hamer: “Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord; Improvisational music afternoon with
musician Mike Hamer. Bring any instrument, no matter your skill level, and we’ll enjoy making
music together! Drums and various musical instruments provided if you do not have one. Meet
at Mercer house at 2:00. Parents pick up at 5:00.
Sunday, Nov. 6 Frank Dembowski: “Dialogue with ECM students and Making Care Packages for
Soldiers Overseas in Iraq”
Sunday, Nov. 13 No EYC
**Sunday, Nov. 20 EYC program will be the 3:00 Interfaith Service at First Presbyterian. After the service, all
youth, grades 6-12, attending the service will meet in Canterbury House for a pizza party.
Sunday, Nov. 27 No EYC – Happy Thanksgiving!
**Sat. Dec. 3 Afternoon refreshments and Christmas caroling with Lucille Gorham at her home. Lucille
Gorham visited our youth group last year and was the first African-American woman to serve on
the Pitt County School Board. Meet at church lower parking lot promptly at 2:00 and parents pick
up at 4:30.
Sunday, Dec. 4 Andrew Scanlon: “Music and Faith” (includes some time of singing to Andrew’s organ playing!)
Sunday, Dec. 11 EYC program will be the 5:00 Lessons and Carols at St. Paul’s. After the program,
we will meet in the Parish Hall for dinner. Parents, grandparents, and
anyone traveling in car with youth are invited to join us for this dinner
after Lessons and Carols.
Sunday, Dec. 18 Annual party at Chico’s. Youth meet at Chico’s at 5:30 and parents pick up at 7:30. Bring
one wrapped gift with $5.00 value for Secret Santa and $5.00 for dinner.
Sunday, Dec. 25 No EYC – Merry Christmas!

by brief devotion time at the chapel. Meet at Parish Hall as usual and we will begin
loading into the church van at 5:20 and leave for the chapel. We will return to have
dinner at 7:00. Parents pick up youth at 7:30 (vs. 7:00).

Meet at lower parking lot of St. Paul’s promptly at 2:30. Will return to church at
7:00. Bring $5.00 for pizza dinner.

Sunday, April 3 Derek Maher and Jill Jennings Maher – “Live Video Conversations (via Skype) with
Youth from India”
Sunday, April 10 Mayor Pat Dunn: "How do Faith and Politics Work Together?" For this program,
we will meet at 5:00, Parish Hall, and leave promptly at 5:20 to ride in van to city
hall where Mayor Dunn will lead the interactive program in the council chambers.
We will return for dinner at 6:30.
**Saturday, April 16 Experiential Learning - EYC and ECM will join together to participate in the
annual Pamlico Tar R iver Clean Up– Meet at Town Commons boat ramp
promptly at 7:45 am. All parishioners are invited to join us. We will
participate in trash clean-up on land beside the river. Parents pick up
youth at 12:00 noon at the boat ramp if not staying for lunch. For youth,
college students, or others who want to walk downtown for lunch after the
clean-up, please bring some lunch money. Youth can call parents to let
them know time and place of pick up if they stay for lunch. Wear work
clothes and closed toe shoes for the clean-up.
Sunday, April 17 Outreach Ministry: Make and deliver Easter baskets to our neighbors in
University Towers
Sunday, April 24 No EYC – Happy Easter!
**Friday, April 29 Bowling at AMF East Carolina Lanes, 700 Red Banks Rd., 7-9:00. Meet at bowling
alley at 7:00 and parents pick up at 9:00. Bring $10.00 which covers all your
bowling costs (including bowling shoes) and pizza/drinks.

across from Overton's) at 7:30. Parents pick up at 9:30. Bring money for
refreshments. No other charge.

water balloon battle!
**Friday, June 10 Youth Fundraiser Yard Sale for the India Project, 12-3:00, in yard next to Wendy's
on 10th St. In case of rain, yard sale will be under covered porch area. Donations
to be delivered between 10:30-11:00 am on Friday to yard sale site.
