  • WORSHIP

Choir: The Parish Choir sings every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., as well as at special services throughout the program year, including monthly Choral Evensong and Lessons & Carols.  An annual retreat weekend is held at the Trinity Center. Children’s Choir: This choir is designed to prepare children for singing services in the Anglican tradition. Basic musical and liturgical skills are included. Compline:  Incense, candles, stillness. Ancient nighttime prayers sung Sunday nights by the Campus Ministry Compline Choir. Volunteers needed to help set up and clean up. Flower Guild: The flower guild prepares and maintains floral arrangements for the worship space. Teams meet on Saturday mornings.  Contact: Judy Whichard, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 830-8885.

Eucharistic Ministers:  Adults and confirmed youth assist the clergy in administering Holy Communion. Training is provided. Each chalicer is scheduled to serve approximately once every month. Lectors: Volunteers read scriptures during Sunday Services, including prayers of the people. Lectors are scheduled for both services and  typically serve about once a month.  Readers can identify any days they are unable to serve. Liturgical Dance Guild: The purpose of this ministry is to enrich our worship at St. Paul’s. Practice sessions are scheduled in advance. Contact: Louise Hudak, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 355-8354.

String and Instrumental Ensemble:  Do you play a musical instrument? This group consists of children, youth and adults participating together in music during worship at St. Paul’s. Wedding Guild:  Members of the Wedding Guild work in teams to assist the priest behind-the-scenes to have an efficient rehearsal and to make the wedding day go smoothly. They serve as hostesses for the   families involved and the guests attending the wedding, emphasizing Episcopal traditions and service.   • CHRISTIAN EDUCATION & FORMATION YOUTH & YOUNG ADULTS 

Campus Ministry:  This ministry focuses on local college students. Students meet every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. for dinner and a program. Volunteers needed to help prepare weekly meals. Contact: Frank Dembowski, (919) 270-2541.

Episcopal Peace Fellowship: Interested in issues of peace and justice?  St. Paul’s has joined with Episcopalians across the country involved in many different types of Peace and Justice Ministries.  Want to become a member?  Check the website at www.epfnational.org and email Bob Hudak at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call Frank Dembowski at (919) 270-2541.  Our network will start the fall of 2011 with prayer and reflection before taking specific actions related to ‘thinking globally and acting locally’ when it comes to the teachings of Jesus in relationship to current social justice issues.

TnT:  A group for young adults (Twenties and Thirties) meets in Friendly Hall on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Study, mission and fellowship are the foundations for this group. Contact: Kimberley Benson, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 227-4146.

Mothers of Young Children (MoYC):  This group of women meets on Wednesdays (September – May) from 5- 6 p.m. for study and fellowship. Childcare is provided. Contact: Nikki Blount, 714-0268, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Nursery and Childcare: This ministry provides nursery for children up to 2 years of age on Sunday mornings during Christian education and the 10:30 a.m. service. Vacation Bible School (VBS):  With St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, we host a summer Vacation Bible School.  Many volunteers are needed to make this a success. Contact: Beth Hammond, 752-3482, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

  • OUTREACH

Crop Walk:  This is an annual walk to generate awareness and funds for food for the hungry, sponsored by a variety of churches in Greenville. Contact: Virginia Pou, 439-5416, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Food Pantry:  The St. Paul's Food Pantry provides food for approximately 90 families each week. Volunteers are needed to help maintain the pantry, pick up food and prepare bags of food for distribution.  Contact: Ann Harrison, 756-0966.

Homeless Shelter:  Every other Tuesday, a St. Paul’s team cooks meals at the Greenville Community Shelter. Contact: Kara Kuzak 347-4054 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Meals on Wheels: We provide hot meals to an average of 12 people every Friday.  Others churches and groups are delivering meals on other routes.  Not only are we delivering a hot meal, we are giving a friendly greeting and also letting the Council on Aging know if we find a major problem. Prison Ministry:  The Angel Tree Christmas project is a seasonal volunteer   opportunity that helps provide Christmas gifts to children whose parents are incarcerated; the Yokefellow Prison Ministry visits men incarcerated at Eastern Correctional Institution on Monday evenings (except the 4th Monday of the month) as a way to develop a nurturing, non-judgmental environment and help them experience the forgiveness, healing and power of God’s love. Tar River Manor: An informal outreach worship service, led by clergy, takes place on the second Wednesday each month at 3 p.m. for those interested in practicing the gift of hospitality to nursing home residents. Contact: Gaye Waldrop, 756-0503.

University Towers Ministry: This ministry reaches out in fellowship to the residents of University Towers, located next door to St. Paul’s. This takes place 3-4 times per year, and volunteers are needed to help plan and implement  activities.  Contact: Ann Harrison, 756-0966. 

Ulster Project:  St. Paul’s joins other local churches in Greenville each summer to host students from Ireland who come to the U.S. to share in a great experience with Catholics and Protestants together.   • PASTORAL CARE / MEMBERSHIP / PARISH LIFE

Dream Group Work:  This group is open to anyone interested in paying close attention to their night-time dreams. Dreams are one way God “communicates” with us. Members of this group share their dreams and hear others associations to the images & events in their dreams in order to better understand themselves & their faith journey. Environmental Stewardship:  This group promotes recycling and conservation stewardship.  Contact: Ann Bunnell, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Episcopal Church Women: The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) are committed to one another and are called to be witnesses for Christ. The challenge is to provide a safe place where every woman is free to become the person Christ called her to be. Contact: Barbara Vickers, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Lay Eucharistic Visitors: This involves taking sacramental bread and wine to parishioners who are in hospitals or are homebound. Visitors serve on a monthly rotation in teams of two. Hosts and Helpers:  Hosts and Helpers consist of all members of the church. Serving on a monthly rotation schedule according to last names, Hosts and Helpers assist the congregation by providing help with church receptions for funerals, bishop's visitations, and church dinners. Interfaith Alliance:  This group meets on the 4th Monday each month for interfaith prayer and discussion. Contact: Tad Whitaker, 531-8870.

St. Lydia’s Guild:  This guild meets in the evening for fellowship and fun, and to support many of St. Paul’s outreach projects through funds raised at quarterly yard sales. Members also work on crafts for the church’s annual  bazaar. Contact: Mable Wolcott, 756-2438.

Sts. Martha, Mary and Ann’s Guild (St. MMA):  The primary goal of this service guild is to raise funds (through bake sales, plant sales, etc.) to implement special projects at St. Paul’s. Meetings are every 3rd Monday at noon in the Parish Hall.  Bring your own sandwich. Beverage, dessert and chips are provided. Stephen Ministry: This ministry helps churches develop an effective lay ministry program focusing on needs of the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, unemployed, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Van Service for Cypress Glen: Volunteers drive the St. Paul’s van to and from Cypress Glen Retirement Community to transport residents to the church for Sunday services. Contact: Marion Biggs, 830-5188.

Wednesday Night Dinners: We welcome everyone to join us for an inexpensive supper. This is a great way to connect with other parishioners and have family time. The dinners start at 6:15 p.m. in the Parish Hall immediately after 5:30 church service. Cost of the dinner is $4 per adult and $2 for children under 12. Welcoming/New Member Ministry:  This ministry welcomes newcomers to St. Paul’s and helps new members ease into parish life. Women’s Memorial Garden:  Volunteers provide seasonal care of St. Paul’s prayer garden outside the Parish Hall. Contact: Bartje Pace, 756-0390.  

  • ADMINISTRATION & COMMUNICATIONS

Christmas Bazaar:  This takes place in conjunction with the Christmas Homes Tour. Volunteer opportunities abound for organizing and  setting up for the bazaar. Christmas Homes Tour: Volunteers are needed to greet people at one of several decorated homes, help prepare food for box lunches, and help sell tickets.  This takes place the first Saturday of December. Communications Committee:  This group of volunteers meets periodically to coordinate internal and external communication needs of the parish, including assisting with newsletter preparation, providing information to the media about church activities and maintaining the parish website. Newsletter: The Epistle is our monthly newsletter sent by traditional post or by e-mail. The Epistle assembly team works one morning a month to help get the newsletter in the mail. Office Volunteers:  We have teams of parishioners who help answer the phone and do simple clerical tasks during parish office hours. Hours available to match your schedule. Planned Giving/Legacy Fund:  Interested in providing resources for future ministries? Gift planning enables anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources to make a considered choice about their estate disposition. Pumpkin Patch:  This is a major fund raiser for St. Paul’s that is conducted in October each year. Many volunteers are needed to help unload and sell pumpkins at the patch.  We also need a dedicated   individual or team to help organize and coordinate this endeavor. Vestry:  The Vestry is the governing body of the church and includes the rector and 12 elected lay people. The Vestry is responsible for all decisions concerning the operation of the church.  If you are interested in serving, contact the rector or a current member of the vestry to have your name placed in nomination. 752-3482.
